If you have not already seen the movie Juno, you must see it. It is the only movie, that I can recall, which makes adoption seem “cool”. The dialogue is witty and fast-paced. While the writers took some degree of poetic license with regard to the adoption process and the adoption attorney and prospective adoptive parents don’t fare well, the main thrust of the story shows how a young lady deals with her unplanned pregnancy in a way that most teenagers do not.
On January 16, 2008, Ellen Page (Juno) and Jennifer Garner (the prospective adoptive mom) appeared on Oprah. Interestingly, Oprah focused on the teen pregnancy aspect of the movie rather than adoption.
In any case, the movie is well worth your time. You will leave the theater smiling.
